Maple Valley was orignally designed by the first owner Wayne Idso. After Wayne researched the design of golf course architecture, he contacted the National Golf Foundation. In 1963, after a representative of the NGF visited the site and approved the design, the Idso family started the process of turning their hilly, heavily wooded second-generation farm, into Maple Valley Golf and Country Club.
